Our Goal: Providing 600 Children With Clean Water
Kyangabakama Primary School
Kyangabakama Primary School with a population of 600 children and 10 teachers is located 10 kilometers away from Kamira trading center in Buwanuka LC1, Kitenderi Parish Kamira S/C Luwero district.
This school has experienced problems with water since its establishment in 1962. Since then the children and their teachers have shared water with the animals which they are fetching from pond that is 1km away. This has not only complicated the learning process of the pupils but has caused water borne diseases like diarrhea, bilharzia and typhoid. Consequently, according to the school administration this challenge has partly culminated into poor academic performance since water is life.
Therefore, this project when completed is expected to provide safe and clean water to 486 school children, teachers and to neighboring households. The project will put an end to the long suffering and thirst children have gone through and improve the general hygienic and sanitation conditions of the school and children. This project is also expected to increase the school enrollment, retention and completion as the traditional challenge will be no more with the support from The Drop Foundation.
